Environmental Horticulture & Natural Resources Community Educator

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Putnam County (Brewster, NY)

We are looking for an energetic, self-motivated professional for this multi-faceted environmental horticulture & natural resources community educator position.

The person who fills this Community Educator position will be part of our Environmental Horticulture and Natural Resources program team, working with other Cornell Cooperative Extension educators and volunteers.

He or she will help educate Putnam County residents in home gardening (including vegetables, fruits, perennials, trees and shrubs); environmentally sound landscaping and pest management; the wise use of natural resources and protecting water quality. The Community Educator will also help to plan new educational programs in the Environmental Horticulture and Natural Resources area; coordinate Master Gardener volunteer program and events; and will assist in submitting proposals to secure new funding.

Bachelor of Arts or Science degree from an accredited college or university in a field appropriate to the job responsibilities of the position, required. Degree in horticulture, plant science, or natural resources field, highly preferred. Minimum of 1 year related work or volunteer experience required in relevant field (e.g., horticulture, teaching or extension-type work), required.

Full-time. FLSA – exempt. Annual salary, with excellent benefits available including vacation, sick, health insurance NYS retirement and more.
