Brewster, NY, July 27, 2022 – CCEPC is proud to announce five more scholarship recipients at the Putnam Country Fest and 4-H Showcase: Niamh Carey, Rory Charbonneau, Kaylie Ann Hammond, Eric Kappus, and Emily Rusinko.
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Putnam County historically awards both a Master Gardener and Hebe Gordon Memorial 4-H scholarships in addition to this year’s William C. Nichols 4-H Memorial Scholarship. Marjorie Nichols Keith, longtime Cornell Cooperative Extension employee and Executive Director along with her family, chose to keep her father’s legacy alive through sponsorship of this award.
The CCEPC Hebe Gordon Scholarship is sponsored by the Putnam-Westchester 4-H Horse Show Committee. Both memorial scholarships are open to Putnam County high school seniors who will be attending further education upon their graduation, in addition to actively engaging in 4-H for the past three years. Hebe Gordon has an extra requirement of involvement in either horse and/or animal projects while a 4-H member.
The following seniors are recipients of both the Hebe Gordon and the William C. Nichols memorial scholarships.
Two additional Hebe Gordon Memorial Scholarships were also awarded.
“We are proud of all of our 4-H members and grateful to be able to help support their continued educational plans,” commented Stefanie Hubert, executive director of Cornell Cooperative Extension Putnam County. “These youth exemplify all that 4-H represents. For more than one hundred years 4-H has welcomed young people of all beliefs and backgrounds, giving kids a voice to express who they are and how they make their lives and communities better.”
