Rainbows have many beautiful colors and so do vegetables. Whether vegetable or fruit, the plants we eat create colorful pigments that help us identify the various benefits that influence our health and well-being.
Why are fruits and vegetable different colors? What nutritional properties do certain colors represent? Why is it healthier to eat a rainbow of colors of fruits and vegetables? These questions will be presented and answered outdoors at the community garden at Tilly Foster. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn the benefits of the various vegetables and view them as they grow in the garden.
Handouts will be made available on growing your own rainbow garden, whether in a garden plot or in a pot, as well as a hands-on activity. As we know, a pot of gold is at the end of a rainbow, our rainbow garden pot is not of gold, it’s filled with health, wellness and good feelings, something that gold really can’t buy.
