Join us on Wednesday, May 19th for Hudson Valley Gives Day.

This campaign supports organizations doing great work in our community. Please join us for this one-day campaign and support our programs that rely on these funds.

Our story:

This year, Putnam County 4-H was one of five counties selected in New York to participate in the Nationwide 4-H Ag Innovators Experience (AIE)!

The 4-H AIE reaches more than 7,000 youth in select states with an annual interactive activity that challenges youth to apply critical thinking and STEM skills to address a real-world agriculture challenge. This year’s 4‑H AIE is ‘Curbing the Carbon Appetite’.

For the eighth year, National 4-H Council (Council) is proud to collaborate with Bayer for the annual AIE that will provide 7,000 youth in seven (7) selected states, from urban, suburban and rural backgrounds, the opportunity to develop the workforce skills to feed the planet. The AIE will drive youth awareness of, and interest in, agriculture innovation and agriculture careers. Through a train the trainer model, Putnam County teens will teach workshops to youth in grades 3-8 to help them understand of the carbon cycle, carbon sequestration, and the important role both the consumer and the producer have in contributing to a healthy, sustainable food supply to feed a growing world. The activity will have an agricultural basis that incorporates STEM skills, teamwork, communication and workforce development.

Also, the CCE Putnam 4-H Youth Development Program has co-sponsored the The Putnam County Youth Forum for the past 25 years, in response to the Covid19 Coronavirus crisis, we have re-created the Youth Forum in a NEW Virtual Format. A variety of teen-focused online workshops, led by community professionals, was offered throughout the month of March; held at different times on different days.

Putnam High School Students, with parental permission, participated in as many Zoom Workshops as they chose, throughout the month of March, based on the topics that interested them. All of the workshop topics were identified and selected by the student-led planning committee members which represent Brewster, Carmel, Haldane, Mahopac & Putnam Valley High Schools. Topics included Self-Defense; College-the Next Chapter; Understanding Implicit Bias & more. For additional information please visit our website. The Putnam County Youth Forum is a collaborative, educational conference, for Putnam High School Students, hosted by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Putnam County's 4-H Youth Development Program and the Putnam County Youth Bureau.
